The pistol events listed above represent all the officially recognized ISSF events in pistol. All except Standard Pistol and Center Fire Pistol are shot in the Olympic Games.

Men shoot in the Air Pistol, Free Pistol, Rapid Fire Pistol, Sport Pistol (juniors only), Standard Pistol, and Center Fire Pistol events.

Women shoot in the Air Pistol and Sport Pistol events.
